About

Gateway Christian Fellowship

Gateway Christian Fellowship started in December 2003.  The original elders were Neil Evans, Rid Harrison, Ross Davison and Garry Gould.

Rid soon moved to Auckland and Ross and Garry retired from the eldership in 2007 and 2009 respectively.  Ross Callaghan became an elder in 2009 and retired at the end of 2013. Bernie Townsend became an elder at the beginning of 2013 and retired in 2015.

Neil Evans was an elder of Gateway Christian Fellowship throughout its 111/2 years of ministry.

Mission statement

Gateway Christian Fellowship's mission statement was:

To honour and glorify God by actively pursuing His purposes in our lives, and to serve others through Jesus Christ, who is the Gateway to God.

Jesus said "I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved".  John 10:9.

The fellowship was set up to be the "Gateway to God's way".

Prophetic mandate

God called Gateway to:

  • be a place of restoration and refuge.  Isaiah 58:12.
  • be a fluid, elastic, loose, open, responsive, evolving shape that was led by the Holy Spirit and not constrained by structure.
  • be a light that would dispel darkness over a wide area, locally and internationally.
  • pray for the protection and salvation of future generations
  • have a point of difference from other Churches, particularly in how it supported the elderly and suffering
  • support ministries through prayer and giving.
  • be fruitful and produce something beautiful for the Lord.
